Richard Atkinson LL.B

Followed his father into the Practice as a trainee in 1975 and has strong local connections.

Obtained his law degree at Liverpool University and qualified as a solicitor in 1977.

Richard is Head of the Family Law Department at the Workington Office but also deals with Personal Injury claims and Civil Litigation. An experienced advocate who has also built up an impressive reputation on matters relating to licensing.

Became a director of the Cumberland Building Society in 1999 after a period of long service with the former West Cumbria Building Society.

Barry Earl

Barry Earl M.A. (Cantab.)

Joined Milburns as a trainee solicitor in 1978 and qualified two years later.

Educated at Workington Grammar School; Christ's College, Cambridge University and Chester College of Law.

A partner of the firm since 1980, Barry is Head of the firm's Conveyancing and Probate Department at the Workington Office.

Nick Molyneaux

Nick Molyneaux LL.B

A Mancunian who came to Cumbria to join Milburns on qualifying as a solicitor in 1981, educated at Bury Grammar School and Bristol University. Nick specialises in personal injury but is able to deal with all litigious matters.

Highly regarded in local legal circles, Nick was appointed Deputy District Judge in 1998 and is a member of the Law Society Family Law Panel.

Jane Shaw

Jane Shaw B.Sc

Joined Milburns as a trainee solicitor in 1991 after obtaining her legal qualifications in the North East.

Educated at St Peter's Collegiate School Wolverhampton and at Durham University where she obtained an Honours Degree in Natural Sciences, Jane was admitted as a Solicitor in 1993.

Now a partner of the firm Jane specialises in wills and probate along with residential conveyancing.

Tracy Stainton

Tracy Stainton B.A.

Educated at Workington Grammar School and Durham University where she obtained an Honours Degree in Politics.  Tracy qualified as a Solicitor in 2005 and specialises in Employment Law.  Having had a background in Industrial Relations and 20 years employment experience, she brings a wealth of practical experience to her Employment Law advice.

Tracy is based in the Workington office but is happy to meet Employers at any of the Milburns' Offices or if more convenient at an Employer's premises.

Joined Milburns in 2005 as a Trainee Solicitor after obtaining her Law Degree at the University of Northumbria.

A product of Whitehaven School, Courtney qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and specialises in Family and Matrimonial Law.

Educated at Netherhall School, Maryport and obtained her Law Degree at the University of Central Lancashire, Claire specialises in Wills and Probate at the Workington Office.

Kathryn is based at the Workington Office specialising solely in residential conveyancing.

Joined Milburns direct from Workington Sixth Form College in 1996.

Alison Sharp

Joined Milburns in 1985 on a YTS Placement Scheme.

A former pupil of Derwent School Cockermouth she has progressed through clerical and secretarial ranks to her Legal Executive position.

Alison is based at the Workington Office, specialising in residential conveyancing.

Jim Wood FCIB

Joined the Milburns team as Practice Manager in 1996 after 25 years service in banking and building societies.

Educated at Cockermouth Grammar School and Newcastle Polytechnic before embarking on a career in banking.

Qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Building Societies Institute in 1989 and elected as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in 1995.
